Germany's Creator Economy in 2026

Using Click Analytic's own database of 400M+ creator profiles, we counted every one of the 320,145 German creator accounts above 10,000 followers on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube and measured how they actually perform.

Which platform genuinely reaches a German audience, what engagement and view counts look like at each follower size, how rare a fully qualified creator is, and how many accounts have already run a brand deal. Every figure below has its own chart, data table and source line.

About this study

This report maps the German creator market across Instagram, TikTok and YouTube from Click Analytic's own creator database. It is a count, not a survey and not a self-reported panel.

We identified every creator account with at least 10,000 followers, or subscribers on YouTube, whose location resolves to Germany, then measured follower size, creator gender, audience location, engagement rate, average views, posting activity, follower growth, brand-deal history, verification and the intersection of the quality filters across all 320,145 of them.

Accounts are counted per platform. A German creator active on Instagram and TikTok appears in both figures, so 320,145 is a count of creator accounts rather than of people. Nano accounts between 1,000 and 10,000 followers are counted separately and excluded from every total and share here.

Instagram was measured first and TikTok and YouTube a week later, both in September 2026.

Nine findings from the data, starting with the one that decides which platform a German brief should open on.

Key findings

The German creator market in numbers. Each finding has its own link, so a single statistic can be cited on its own.

  1. 320,145 creator accounts above 10K followers in Germany

206,944 on TikTok, 97,105 on Instagram and 16,096 on YouTube, plus 2,402,696 nano accounts between 1,000 and 10,000 followers.

  2. TikTok is by far the largest German creator pool

206,944 accounts above 10K, 64.6% of the German market, against 30.3% on Instagram and 5.0% on YouTube.

  3. Instagram is where the brand-experienced German creators are

43.3% of German Instagram creators have run branded content, 42,095 accounts, against 11.6% on TikTok and 19.0% on YouTube. Instagram holds more of them than TikTok while being less than half its size.

  4. 182,850 German TikTok accounts have never run a brand deal

88.4% of the German TikTok pool shows no detected branded content. It is the largest body of established creators in the market with no visible brand partnerships.

  5. YouTube reaches Germany, Instagram reaches everywhere else

47.4% of German YouTube channels keep 60% or more of their audience in Germany, against 41.1% on TikTok and 27.2% on Instagram. The median Instagram creator has 27% of their audience at home.

  6. On German TikTok, views are the filter, not engagement

89.7% of German TikTok accounts clear a 3% engagement rate, so the threshold removes almost nobody, but only 3.5% average 100K views. Just 3,335 accounts, 1.6%, combine a domestic audience, 3% engagement and six-figure views.

  7. Smaller German Instagram creators engage roughly 40% harder

The median is around 1.2% between 10K and 50K followers, against around 0.86% above 250K, and 76.7% of the German Instagram market sits in that smallest band.

  8. 111,070 German TikTok accounts have gone quiet

60.7% of Instagram accounts, 46.3% of TikTok accounts and 43.8% of YouTube channels posted in the last 30 days. Roughly half of the German market was dormant in the month before measurement.

  9. YouTube is Germany's male-led platform, the other two are near even

67.8% of German YouTube channels above 10K subscribers are run by men. Instagram is 54.2% women and TikTok 51.1%.

02

How many influencers are there in Germany?

Germany holds 320,145 creator accounts with 10,000 or more followers across Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, and 2,402,696 more between 1,000 and 10,000. Counted together that is 2,722,841 accounts.

TikTok is the largest pool at 206,944 accounts, 64.6% of the base, ahead of Instagram at 97,105 and YouTube at 16,096 channels. On Instagram alone Germany is 6th of the 12 markets measured, behind the United Kingdom at 142,382 and Spain at 108,392, and ahead of France at 88,385. For a market of its economic weight, Germany's creator base is mid-sized rather than dominant.

TikTok also has the deepest bench of creators still on the way up. For every German TikTok account already above 10K followers there are 8.7 nano accounts sitting just below the line, against 6.0 on Instagram and only 1.2 on YouTube. That is where a brand finds creators early, before the rate card catches up.

Most of the market is micro on every platform: 81.9% of TikTok accounts, 76.7% of Instagram creators and 61.2% of YouTube channels sit between 10K and 50K. YouTube is the exception at the top, with 18.9% between 100K and 500K subscribers, roughly twice the Instagram share.

Accounts are counted per platform. A creator with a German Instagram account and a German TikTok account appears in both figures, so 320,145 is a count of creator accounts rather than of people.

A brief written around 100K+ creators is bidding on a tenth of the German market and ignoring three quarters of it. The 10K to 50K band is where German supply actually is, and on Instagram it is also where engagement is highest.

Next, who those creators are across the three platforms.

03

Who German creators are

Instagram and TikTok are close to gender parity among German creators. YouTube is not: 67.8% of German channels above 10K subscribers are run by men.

Women are a small majority on Instagram at 54.2%, 52,634 accounts, and on TikTok at 51.1%, 105,679 accounts. On YouTube the split reverses to 10,910 male-run channels against 5,186 female-run ones, which is the usual YouTube pattern in every market measured, though Germany's version of it is unusually lopsided.

Creator gender is inferred from the profile. Accounts with no identifiable individual creator, such as brands, shops and media outlets, are outside the measured population entirely rather than counted as a third category.

Creator gender and audience gender describe different populations. This study reports creator gender, not audience gender. The creator-gender breakdown therefore should not be used to infer the gender of the people following those accounts.

If your buyer is a specific gender, filter on audience composition rather than on the creator. A near even split among German Instagram and TikTok creators tells you nothing about who sees the post.

Which raises the more useful question: where those audiences actually live.

04

Where German creators' audiences are actually located

Being based in Germany does not make an audience German. Only 40.3% of German Instagram creators keep 40% or more of their followers inside the country, against 50.1% on TikTok and 50.9% on YouTube.

YouTube has the most concentrated domestic audiences: 47.4% of German channels keep 60% or more of their audience in Germany. TikTok follows at 41.1% and Instagram falls to 27.2%. Measured separately across the whole Instagram market, the median German creator has 27% of their audience in Germany. On 100,000 followers that is roughly 27,000 people who can actually buy from a German retailer.

Germany sits 10th of 12 on the Instagram measure. Turkey is the most domestic market we have measured, Switzerland the least. Germany's position has an obvious cause: German is spoken in Austria and Switzerland too, and this metric counts only followers located in Germany itself.

For a DACH campaign that is an understatement rather than a warning. Read the full country split on a shortlist before discounting a creator for a low German share. For a Germany-only campaign it is the first filter, not the last.

Price and forecast on in-country followers, not on total followers. At the German Instagram median, a 100,000-follower creator is a 27,000-follower creator for a Germany-only campaign, and a YouTube channel of the same size usually is not.

Location is half of relevance. Engagement is the other half, and the platforms could hardly be further apart on it.

05

Engagement rate benchmarks for German influencers

What counts as good engagement depends entirely on the platform. 89.7% of German TikTok creators reach a 3% engagement rate, against 54.8% of YouTube channels and 25.6% of Instagram creators.

On Instagram, 52.2% of the market exceeds 1%, 25.6% exceeds 3% and 15.3% exceeds 5%. That 3% share is the 2nd highest of the 12 markets measured; only France is ahead and Colombia has the lowest share of all.

On TikTok the same threshold barely separates anyone: 97.9% clear 1% and 74.3% clear even 5%. Engagement is defined differently on each platform and the same number filters completely differently, so compare a creator against others on their own platform and judge German TikTok on views instead.

Engagement falls as German Instagram audiences grow, which is worth stating plainly because the global pattern runs the other way. The median is around 1.2% between 10K and 50K followers, around 0.92% between 50K and 250K, and around 0.86% above 250K. Measured across the whole market as a single population, the median is around 1.1%.

These medians are rounded, so read them as benchmarks rather than exact values.

Benchmark against the platform and the size band, never one flat number. A German 10K to 50K Instagram creator at 2.4% is running at twice the median for their size, while a 3% floor on TikTok would reject almost nobody and tell you nothing.

Engagement measures the audience a creator already has. Views measure how far a post travels beyond it.

06

Views and reach: how far German posts actually travel

Six-figure view counts are rare on every German platform. 6.8% of Instagram creators average 100K+ Reel views, 6.2% of YouTube channels and 3.5% of TikTok accounts.

A million followers is more common in Germany than a million views. On Instagram, 520 accounts have passed a million followers and 303 average a million views. On TikTok the pair is 1,141 and 604, on YouTube 288 and 112.

Median views climb steeply with creator size. A German TikTok account at 10K to 50K followers averages around 1,500 views per video, rising to around 4,500 at 50K to 250K and around 24,000 above 250K. German YouTube channels out-view TikTok accounts of the same size in every band, starting at around 2,500. The median German Instagram creator averages around 6,500 Reel views.

Germany ranks 4th of 12 measured markets on the Instagram six-figure rate, with France first at 8.1%. Reach and engagement move together here, which is not true everywhere: the United States carries far more accounts than Germany and a lower six-figure rate at 4.8%.

Turn every quote into a cost per thousand views: fee divided by expected views, times 1,000. A German 10K to 50K TikTok creator quoting on follower count looks cheap until the median for that size, around 1,500 views, goes into the denominator.

A view only counts if the account is still posting. Next, how much of this market is live.

07

How many German creators are still active, and which are growing

Roughly half the German creator market was dormant in the month before measurement. 60.7% of Instagram accounts posted in the last 30 days, against 46.3% on TikTok and 43.8% on YouTube.

That leaves 38,152 Instagram accounts, 111,070 TikTok accounts and 9,050 YouTube channels quiet for a month or more. Instagram creators are the most consistent of the three, and Germany still sits 11th of the 12 markets measured on that platform, behind Mexico.

Growth is healthier, and Instagram leads it. 10.3% of German Instagram creators grew their following by at least 20% over six months, against 6.3% on TikTok and 3.1% on YouTube. In absolute terms TikTok is bigger: 13,117 accounts grew a fifth and 3,212 doubled, against 2,264 on Instagram. German YouTube audiences barely move, with 63 channels doubling.

That places Germany 4th of 12 on Instagram growth, between the fastest market, Mexico, and the slowest, Sweden.

Filter on activity before you filter on anything else. More than half the German TikTok base has not posted in a month, and none of the engagement or view figures above apply to an account that has stopped.

That is the live pool. The question every brand asks next is how much of it has done this before.

08

Brand deals and creator quality in Germany

Instagram is the professional end of the German market: 43.3% of its creators have run branded content, 42,095 accounts, against 19.0% on YouTube and 11.6% on TikTok.

Germany ranks 6th of 12 on Instagram brand-deal history, behind Sweden and well ahead of Colombia. Against the global Creator Economy Report figure of 28.8% on Instagram, Germany is a notably commercial market: brands have already been here.

The flip side is the size of the untouched pool. 182,850 German TikTok accounts above 10K followers show no detected branded content, 88.4% of that platform, against 55,010 on Instagram. Undisclosed and gifted collaborations are not captured by this measurement, so treat it as a floor rather than a census, but the gap between the two platforms is large enough that both are real strategies.

Verification is not the shortcut it looks like. 0.9% of German TikTok creators and 14.8% of German YouTube channels carry a badge, and a badge confirms identity rather than reach, audience or engagement.

Stack three reasonable quality filters and the market shrinks fast. A 40% German audience share, a 3% engagement rate and 100K average views together leave 3,335 TikTok accounts, 1.6% of the platform, and 309 YouTube channels, 1.9%. Views are the bottleneck: about half of German creators pass the audience and engagement filters, and very few pass the views one. Each figure counts the accounts that pass all three filters together, not an estimate built from the separate filters.

10

Germany against the global creator economy

We compared these German figures against Click Analytic's Creator Economy Report 2026, a separate study of 23.6M creator accounts globally using a full-year 2025 snapshot. Its published 25-market breakdown covers a subset of that cohort.

The engagement comparison is the one worth reading twice. Globally, Instagram engagement rises with follower size, from 0.80% at 10K to 50K up to 1.20% above a million, which is a pattern almost no other platform shows. In Germany it runs the other way: around 1.2% at 10K to 50K falling to around 0.86% above 250K. A German micro-creator already engages at the rate a global creator only reaches with a million followers.

Germany also reads as a more commercially mature market than the global average, with 43.3% of Instagram creators carrying brand-deal history against 28.8% worldwide, and it grows faster, at 10.3% against 6.4%. The trade-off is reach. Six-figure view counts are rarer here than globally on Instagram, 6.8% against 9.1%, and much rarer on TikTok, 3.5% against 8.2%. German virality is scarce even where engagement and commercial activity run ahead.

Activity is the other offsetting number: 60.7% of German Instagram accounts posted in the last month against 55.9% globally, and Germany is 11th of the 12 markets measured on it. The German advantage is engagement and commercial experience, not output.

For marketers

Do not import a global engagement benchmark into a German brief. A German 10K to 50K creator at the market median is already ahead of a global creator with a million followers on that metric alone. If the KPI is reach rather than engagement, budget for more creators per goal in Germany, because six-figure view moments are rarer here.

With the global context in place, here is what all of this changes about running a campaign in Germany.

11

What this means for marketers working in Germany

Seven practical rules for planning influencer campaigns in Germany, each grounded in a figure above.

01

Set the engagement floor per platform, never one number

A 3% floor keeps 25.6% of German Instagram creators, 54.8% of YouTube channels and 89.7% of TikTok accounts. On Instagram it is a strict filter, on TikTok it filters almost nothing. Benchmark Instagram against around 1.2% at 10K to 50K and judge TikTok and YouTube on views.

02

Check the German audience share before the follower count

Only 40.3% of German Instagram creators keep 40% of their audience in Germany, and the market median is 27%. YouTube is the concentrated platform at 50.9%. Price on in-country followers.

03

Treat Austria and Switzerland as upside

This measurement counts only followers located in Germany. A German-speaking creator with a modest German share may hold much of the rest next door, so read the full country split before discounting them.

04

Filter for activity first

111,070 TikTok accounts and 38,152 Instagram accounts did not post in the last 30 days. Apply the recency filter before you build the list, not after.

05

TikTok for first-time partners, Instagram for proven ones

182,850 German TikTok creators have no branded content yet, against 55,010 on Instagram. First-time partners need a fuller brief and face far less competition. Instagram's 42,095 experienced creators have done it before.

06

Use median views to sanity-check a quote

A German TikTok account at 10K to 50K followers averages around 1,500 views per video and a YouTube channel of the same size around 2,500. Divide the fee by expected views, multiply by 1,000, and compare creators on that number instead of on followers.

07

Ignore the verified badge as a quality signal

Only 0.9% of German TikTok creators and 14.8% of YouTube channels are verified. A badge confirms identity, not audience quality, reach or engagement. Filter on the data instead.

Methodology

Account totals count profiles matching the stated filters in the Click Analytic creator database. Percentages use the population specified for each metric. Medians are estimated from threshold queries and published as rounded benchmarks.

Population
Creator accounts with 10,000-100,000,000 followers (subscribers on YouTube) located in Germany, with an inferred gender.
Base per platform
97,105 Instagram, 206,944 TikTok, 16,096 YouTube. Every share on this page uses its own platform base.
Nano tier
Accounts with 1,000 to 10,000 followers, counted separately under the same location rules and excluded from every 10K+ total and share: 586,079 Instagram, 1,797,510 TikTok, 19,107 YouTube.
Measured
Instagram in September 2026, TikTok in September 2026, YouTube in September 2026.
Counting, not sampling
Account totals count profiles matching the stated filters in the Click Analytic creator database, which indexes over 400 million public profiles. These totals are database counts, not survey estimates.
Accounts, not people
Accounts are counted per platform. A creator active on two platforms appears in both totals, so the cross-platform figure is a count of creator accounts rather than of individuals.
Engagement rate
Calculated per platform. The definitions differ, so a rate is comparable within a platform and not across platforms.
Medians
Each median is published rounded, as a benchmark rather than an exact value.

Notes and limits

  • Accounts, not people: a German creator active on two platforms is counted on both, so the cross-platform figure is a count of creator accounts.
  • Instagram was measured a week before TikTok and YouTube, both in September 2026. Treat the cross-platform total as a picture of that month rather than of a single day.
  • This study covers creator gender, not audience gender, and reports verification for TikTok and YouTube.
  • Followers in Austria and Switzerland count as outside Germany throughout. For a DACH campaign, read the full country split on the shortlist.
  • Engagement is defined differently on each platform, so the rates here are comparable within a platform and not across them.

Adding nano creators between 1,000 and 10,000 followers brings the total to 2,722,841 accounts. Accounts are counted per platform, so a creator active on two platforms is counted twice.

Which platform has the most influencers in Germany?

TikTok, with 206,944 creator accounts above 10K followers and 1,797,510 nano accounts. Instagram follows with 97,105 and YouTube with 16,096 channels above 10K subscribers.

What is a good engagement rate for a German Instagram influencer?

Read it against the size band. The median is around 1.2% at 10K to 50K followers, around 0.92% at 50K to 250K and around 0.86% above 250K. Across the whole market the median is around 1.1%, and 25.6% of creators clear 3%.

How many views does a German TikTok creator get?

The median German TikTok account at 10K to 50K followers averages around 1,500 views per video, around 4,500 at 50K to 250K and around 24,000 above 250K. 3.5% of German TikTok creators average 100K or more.

How much of a German influencer's audience is actually in Germany?

It depends on the platform. 50.9% of YouTube channels, 50.1% of TikTok accounts and 40.3% of Instagram creators keep at least 40% of their audience in the country. At the Instagram market median it is 27%. Followers in Austria and Switzerland are counted as outside Germany.

How many German influencers have done brand deals?

42,095 Instagram accounts, 43.3%, 24,094 TikTok accounts, 11.6%, and 3,057 YouTube channels, 19.0%, show at least one detected branded post. On Instagram that is the 6th highest share of the 12 markets Click Analytic has measured. Undisclosed and gifted collaborations are not captured.
