Click Analytic's July 2026 US model shows how different leading storefronts can look. Among the 300 brand storefronts with the highest estimated GMV, active catalogs ranged from 2 to 7,700 products, with a median of 94. Promoter rosters ranged from 1 to 124,800 storefront-level entries, with a median of 13,300; one creator can count once for every storefront promoted. Every shop still starts with registration, listings, fulfillment and demand. The final section turns those basics into a 30-day launch plan.
Can you sell on TikTok Shop in your country?
TikTok Shop opens market by market, and you sell into the market your shop is registered for. Confirm your market is open before anything else. The current market list, and what changes between markets, is in how TikTok Shop works.
The rest of this guide uses United States rules. Accepted entities and documents, tax treatment, fees, fulfillment and creator eligibility vary by market. Use the registration flow for onboarding requirements, then check the target market's Seller Center and Seller Academy for current operating rules.
Before you touch a form, decide your business type. TikTok asks for it at registration and its business type guide is explicit that the choice cannot be changed afterwards. Individual, sole proprietorship, corporation and partnership each pull a different document list and a different tax treatment.
If you have not sold on the platform before, read how TikTok Shop works first. It walks the order from a tapped product to settlement, which is the model everything below assumes.
Create your TikTok Shop seller account
Registration depends on verifiable documents. Create the account, choose the market and business type, upload the required identity and business information, then address any rejection reason shown in Seller Center before the shop can trade.
For an individual or sole proprietorship in the United States, TikTok's document guide asks for valid government identification, with details that match the registration exactly. For a corporation or partnership, the business document guide adds business registration details, a tax identifier, beneficial owner and representative information, and bank details.
What can delay registration or payouts
TikTok's current US onboarding guides repeatedly flag these issue classes:
- A legal name or address that does not match exactly across the application and supporting documents.
- An unsupported or incorrect document type, or an expired document.
- An unreadable, cropped, altered or screenshot-based upload.
Finish setup with verified tax information, payout details, a ship-from warehouse address and a return address. In the US, missing or unverifiable tax information can block payments, affect eligibility and keep products from becoming visible.
All new US shops enter the New Shop Probation Program. Daily order and total product-listing limits can apply at first and change as the shop completes onboarding, performance and compliance requirements. Check the probation status in Seller Center before planning launch volume.
List your products on TikTok Shop
A listing here has to survive on camera. It is opened mid-scroll, by someone who just watched a fifteen-second video, on a phone, and it gets a few seconds to confirm a decision that has already half been made.
- A title that says what the product is, not a keyword string.
- Images that read at thumbnail size, with the result visible, not just the packaging.
- Variants that match how the product is actually demonstrated on video.
- Stock depth that can absorb one video working, because the failure mode is selling out mid-spike.
- Shipping and return terms stated plainly, since they are read at the moment of doubt.
Before publishing, confirm that the product is allowed in the US market and whether its category requires qualification. The listing must use accurate product information and comply with TikTok Shop's product-listing policies.
Product choice matters more than listing craft. Products that do well on this surface tend to show a visible before and after, work as an impulse purchase, and survive being explained in one breath. A product that needs a comparison table is a hard sell here, whatever its margin.
If you already sell elsewhere, you may not have to rebuild the catalog by hand. TikTok documents integrations for Shopify, Salesforce Commerce Cloud and Rithum, plus connectors and open APIs for product, inventory and order data. Its Shopify onboarding guide covers product sync, warehouses, orders and returns. The supported list changes, so confirm your platform in Seller Center before planning around it.
Choose your fulfillment method
Current US documentation lists three shipping types, subject to shop eligibility: Seller Shipping, TikTok Shipping and Fulfilled by TikTok.
| Shipping type | How it works | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Seller Shipping | Seller or its 3PL stores, packs and ships with a TikTok-supported carrier | Eligible shops that want to manage fulfillment end to end |
| TikTok Shipping | Seller or its 3PL stores and packs; TikTok Shop provides the shipping label and approved last-mile service | Eligible shops that want to retain their warehouse while TikTok manages delivery |
| Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT) | TikTok Shop stores, picks, packs and ships inventory sent to its network | Eligible products where TikTok Shop manages fulfillment end to end |
TikTok's current US logistics overview makes each route subject to shop eligibility. Check Logistics > Shipping in Seller Center for the options available to your shop before planning warehouse operations or delivery promises.
TikTok Shop fees and costs
Fees belong in the same calculation. TikTok's United States referral fee schedule, effective 31 October 2024 and last updated on 14 May 2026, applies 6% to most categories and 5% to five jewelry subcategories, with a tiered rate for pre-owned goods and collectibles. Those are United States rates, and creator commission sits on top of them. You will also see a lower introductory rate quoted around the web. TikTok has run introductory referral rates for new sellers, and its own fee policy refers to new sellers enrolled in promotional plans, but the current schedule published by TikTok carries no introductory rate and the promotion pages that once described one are no longer live. Treat any specific introductory number you read elsewhere as unverified, and read the schedule that applies to your own shop in Seller Center.
Opening the shop costs nothing. TikTok's United States seller site answers the question in one line: there is no setup fee to join, and the charge that does apply is the referral fee on each sale. Listing products carries no separate per-item fee either. Other costs depend on the services and tactics you use, and some are charged by TikTok while others are paid to creators or providers.
The whole stack for a United States seller, separated into what TikTok sets and what you set.
| Line item | What it costs | Set by |
|---|---|---|
| Shop registration | No fee. TikTok states there is no setup fee to join | TikTok |
| Listing products | No separate per-item listing fee | TikTok |
| Referral fee | 6% in most categories, 5% in five jewelry subcategories, a tiered rate on pre-owned goods and collectibles. Schedule effective 31 October 2024, page last updated 14 May 2026 | TikTok |
| Creator compensation | Commission on qualifying sales and, for eligible Target Collaborations, any flat fee or additional terms | You, within available collaboration controls |
| Samples | Product cost plus shipping only when you choose to provide samples | You |
| Fulfillment | Route-dependent: Seller Shipping, TikTok Shipping or Fulfilled by TikTok, plus any warehouse or provider costs | You, TikTok Shop or your provider, depending on the route |
| Advertising | Optional. Nothing is required to list or to sell | You |
Two rows deserve a second look. Creator commission is yours to set and it stacks on the referral fee, so publishing 20% in a 6% category commits about 26% of the price before you have paid for the product. Samples cost real money with no guaranteed output: seeding thirty creators means thirty units and thirty parcels, whether or not anyone posts.
How to actually get sales on TikTok Shop
Three seller-controlled growth motions are your own shoppable content, LIVE selling and an affiliate creator program. They sit alongside product-card discovery in Shop and search, plus paid Shop Ads.
| Engine | What it needs from you | What it gives back |
|---|---|---|
| Your own shoppable video | A repeatable posting rhythm and someone comfortable on camera | Direct control of the message and reusable seller content |
| LIVE selling | Scheduled hours, a host and enough stock for each session | Real-time demonstrations, questions and conversion data by stream |
| Affiliate creators | A commission offer, creator selection and a budget for any samples or eligible Target Collaboration flat fees | Creator-led distribution through eligible shoppable formats |
Paid media sits alongside these motions rather than replacing them. Use it to amplify content that already converts, not as a substitute for a clear listing and viable offer.
What about GMV Max and TikTok Shop ads?
GMV Max is a campaign type, not a metric. It is an automated TikTok Shop ads campaign in Ads Manager, offered in a Product and a LIVE variant, and TikTok describes it as optimizing for total channel ROI. The part that catches sellers out is attribution: while a Product campaign is running, all paid and organic orders for the products in it are attributed to that campaign, whether or not the shopper engaged with an ad.
So record the baseline before you switch anything on. Note what those products were doing on their own, or the campaign will report numbers you have no way of reading. One boundary while you are here: Click Analytic does not read your Ads Manager and does not report on, optimize or measure these campaigns. Those numbers live in your own account.
Set up your affiliate offer
Set the offer before you invite anyone. Creators see the terms as written, so make the product, commission, sample terms and expected deliverables explicit.
TikTok's current US Affiliate Marketing Policy lists Open, Target and Shop Collaboration. Open and Shop Collaboration make eligible products visible to a broader creator pool. Target Collaboration sends a specific offer to selected creators. Use the broad routes for discovery and Target when you already have a researched shortlist. Access is not automatic: the shop and each product must meet the current Affiliate Marketing qualification criteria, and Seller Center is final.
Set a commission that leaves room after TikTok fees, product cost and fulfillment. Whichever route you use, the offer should state all of this before it goes out.
- The product, the intended buyer and the claim the creator may safely make.
- Commission, and what happens to it when an order is refunded or cancelled.
- Sample terms, and whether the sample carries a deliverable.
- The deliverable itself: format, count and publication window.
Samples are an offer term, not an automatic benefit. TikTok's sample guide covers free and refundable samples, seller approval and the content obligations attached to some of them. For the full program rules, including creator eligibility and how commission settles, read how the TikTok Shop Affiliate Program works.
