Quick answer
The TikTok Shop Affiliate Program lets eligible creators promote a seller's products through shoppable videos, LIVEs, a profile Showcase and, in supported markets, shareable affiliate links. Under current US rules, standard commission is based on qualifying sales and adjusts for refunds made before payout. The policy lists Open, Target and Shop Collaboration. Target offers can also include a flat fee for one shoppable video. Eligibility, sample terms and settlement timing vary by market.
TikTok Shop Affiliate connects eligible creators and sellers. Brands still need a separate process for creator selection.
What is the TikTok Shop Affiliate Program?
TikTok Shop Affiliate is TikTok Shop's program for eligible creators and sellers. Creators recommend eligible products through shoppable content. Standard offers pay commission on qualifying sales, while some Target offers include a flat fee for one shoppable video. TikTok describes the program for both audiences on its official Affiliate page.
For a creator, the program is a way to sell someone else's product without owning any of it. The creator holds no stock, takes no payment and ships nothing. Before accepting, the creator reviews the compensation, sample and content terms and decides whether the product belongs in front of that audience.
For a seller or brand, standard affiliate commission ties part of creator compensation to qualifying sales and refunds. Some Target offers can also include a flat fee for one shoppable video. Samples, approvals, briefing and fulfillment still require work or budget before any creator commission is settled.
The sale happens inside TikTok Shop. A creator may use a shoppable video, a LIVE stream or a profile Showcase. In the United States, eligible creators may also use a shareable affiliate link. The exact tools and rules depend on the creator's market and account type. The mechanics behind that sale, from product tag to settlement, are in how TikTok Shop works.
How TikTok Shop Affiliate works for creators
A creator moves through five practical stages: eligibility, product selection, content, orders and settlement.
Check whether TikTok Shop Affiliate is available for your market, account type and current account standing.
Choose an eligible product in Product Marketplace or accept a seller invitation.
Review the commission or flat-fee terms, sample terms, product claims and content requirements before agreeing.
Publish eligible shoppable content, such as a video or LIVE stream, with the product correctly attached.
Monitor estimated commission, qualifying orders, cancellations, returns and final settlement in Creator Center.
Start with products that fit the creator's normal topic and audience. Read the listing, seller information, reviews, sample terms and current compensation before accepting. Test the product and any claim you plan to repeat. A high rate does not repair weak audience fit or an unreliable offer.
Disclose the commercial relationship
The US TikTok Shop Creator Terms require creators to disclose commercial relationships. TikTok Shop's current GMV Max guide says affiliate content already carries an Eligible for commission commercial label and does not need an additional disclosure switch. For separate paid or branded terms, follow the disclosure prompt shown in the current app and any legal requirement in the creator's market.
How to become a TikTok Shop affiliate: requirements and steps
There is no single worldwide follower threshold or universal application rule. TikTok Shop availability and creator eligibility vary by country, account type and policy version.
For a current US example, TikTok's US creator eligibility policy requires a self-applying Affiliate Creator to be at least 18, based in the United States, compliant with TikTok Shop policies and have at least 1,000 followers. Age and identity checks also apply. Approved Affiliate Creators with fewer than 5,000 followers enter the Affiliate Creator Pilot Program for at least 30 days, with limits on product access, shoppable posts, LIVEs and campaign participation. These thresholds and restrictions are US rules, not worldwide defaults.
In the current US app flow, eligible creators apply from TikTok Studio, choose Monetization, select TikTok Shop for Creator and tap Join now. TikTok documents the route in its creator application guide. Other markets may show a different entry point or rule set, so follow the eligibility screen in the local app.
Creator account types and product access
The current US policy separates three creator account types.
Affiliate Creator: self-applies and uses Product Marketplace.
Marketing Creator: binds to a seller and may also use marketplace products.
Official Shop Creator: promotes only the bound shop.
Official and Marketing Creators can bind to a shop without a follower minimum. Official Shop Creators are exempt from creator identity verification. Marketing Creators must complete identity verification before using Product Marketplace to earn commission. Product access is separate. Under the US Affiliate Creator Product Selection Policy, category access can depend on Creator Health Rating, Promotion Performance Score, sales history and content quality.
How the program works for sellers and brands
For sellers, the affiliate workflow starts with an eligible product and a clear commercial offer, not with a mass creator list.
The current US Affiliate Marketing Policy says a shop needs a Shop Performance Score of 3.5 or above to qualify for Affiliate Marketing. Each product is assessed separately. A shop may be disqualified if its score falls below 3, so qualification and disqualification are not the same threshold. Sellers should use Seller Center for current status. These are US rules, not worldwide defaults.
Prepare the product listing, inventory, shipping coverage, return policy and any claims creators may use.
Set the product commission and sample terms and, for an eligible flat-fee Target offer, the per-creator video fee.
Make eligible products available broadly through Open or Shop Collaboration, or invite selected creators through Target Collaboration.
Review accepted collaborations and performance inside Seller Center, including the order and settlement statuses provided for the market.
The invitation should identify the product, intended customer, requested deliverable, publication window, sample terms and any usage rights. Put a request to reuse the creator's content in writing rather than assuming the affiliate invitation grants permission. A higher commission does not resolve missing stock, slow fulfillment or product claims that the creator cannot support.
Open, Target and Shop Collaboration
Open and Shop Collaboration make eligible products visible to a broad creator pool. Target Collaboration sends a specific offer to selected creators.

US collaboration plans and the flat-fee Target option
The current US Affiliate Marketing Policy, reviewed on 20 August 2026, lists Open, Target and Shop Collaboration. If the same creator and product are in Open and Target, the Target commission rate takes precedence. A Flat Fee Collaboration is a Target option, not a fourth plan, and can include optional sales commission. Availability varies by market and account, so Seller Center is final.
How TikTok Shop affiliate commission works
For standard US commission offers, TikTok's formula is: Commission = (Revenue - Refunds) x Commission rate. The amount shown after checkout is estimated until the order, refunds and settlement are final.
For standard US affiliate orders, a full refund before commission is paid reduces commission to zero, while a partial refund reduces the revenue base. TikTok says a refund initiated after the creator has been paid does not return that commission to the seller. A brand should not multiply an external GMV estimate by today's listed commission and present the result as creator earnings.
The standard commission guide explains the current US formula and rate protection, while the affiliate orders FAQ covers settlement. In covered US Showcase and Open Collaboration flows, increases apply immediately and decreases preserve an existing creator's rate for 30 days. Target terms can differ: a Target rate can override Open, and a flat-fee Target offer has its own payment and deliverable terms. Read the active offer in Seller Center or Creator Center.
Free, refundable and no-sample offers
A seller may offer a free sample, a refundable sample or no sample. Availability depends on the product, creator, seller settings and local TikTok Shop rules. A free sample request may require seller approval, and a refundable sample may require the creator to meet the stated sales condition before the purchase is refunded.
The current US samples guide says a creator using a public free sample must post within 14 days of receipt. A short video must stay public for at least 3 days, or a LIVE must run for at least 10 minutes, with the product link attached. Refundable samples use a separate 120-day sales window and have no fixed posting deadline. Targeted sample campaigns can use different terms, so read the offer in Creator Center.
Payment follows settlement, not checkout
In the current US schedule, an affiliate order usually appears within minutes. Commission is typically paid on the 15th day after delivery. It can move to day 31 when the seller's settlement period is longer, and disputes, returns or refunds must be resolved first. This is not a worldwide payout promise. Check the local Earnings screen for the active status and timing.
How large TikTok Shop affiliate rosters can get
In Click Analytic's July 2026 US model, the median among the 300 brand storefronts with the highest estimated GMV had about 13,300 creators listed as promoters during the month. Treat that as a roster-scale benchmark, not affiliate-attributed revenue. Storefront GMV can also include seller-owned videos, LIVE streams and product cards.
A new seller should not copy that scale. Start with a smaller researched group, use the seller's own order data to learn which product, offer and format produce qualifying sales, then expand. Each additional collaboration can add sample, briefing and review work even when no sale follows. Commission costs arise only from settled qualifying sales unless the offer also includes a flat fee.
How brands should choose TikTok Shop affiliates
Eligibility tells a brand who can promote a product. It does not show who fits the brief. Use this five-signal screen before inviting anyone:
Category fit: recent TikTok Shop activity in the same category.
Product evidence: the products behind estimated GMV and units, not the aggregate alone.
Format fit: Video versus LIVE performance that matches the planned deliverable.
Audience quality: age, gender and engagement quality that fit the intended buyer.
Offer saturation: recent competing products, direct conflicts and repeated promotions.
Compare estimates only within the same market, currency and reporting period. These are directional research signals, not expected campaign results. An observed promotion does not prove a paid partnership or exclusivity.
Where Click Analytic fits in the affiliate workflow
TikTok Shop is the system for creator enrollment, invitations, samples, qualifying orders and commission settlement. Click Analytic covers research, relationship management and cross-platform campaign work around that system.
Research creators, brands and products across 15 supported TikTok Shop markets. Compare recent estimated GMV and units, product history, and Video versus LIVE performance.
Open creator profile insights to review audience age, gender and engagement quality, then save the strongest profiles to a shared list or CRM.
Use available public business contacts for Gmail outreach. When creators publish, track published Instagram and TikTok campaign content in the same workspace.
The same Click Analytic subscription includes TikTok Shop research and public creator analytics across Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus lists, CRM and outreach. Plan quotas vary, but the shortlist does not need to be rebuilt in a separate tool for each network.
Click Analytic's TikTok Shop figures are modeled estimates, not official TikTok data or exact revenue. It does not enroll creators, set or pay commission, track affiliate links, attribute TikTok Shop orders or calculate Shop ROI. Published Instagram and TikTok content tracking is a separate capability, not Shop sales attribution.
Sources and verification
This guide was reviewed on 20 August 2026 against the linked TikTok Shop program, creator and seller eligibility, product selection, collaboration, flat-fee collaboration, commission, order, sample, disclosure and affiliate-link documentation. Rules vary by market and can change.
Click Analytic feature descriptions were checked against the product scope available on 20 August 2026. TikTok Shop remains the place to verify account eligibility, collaboration controls, commission status and order settlement.
The commercial benchmark comes from Click Analytic's July 2026 US model of the 300 brand storefronts with the highest estimated GMV. It is not TikTok-reported revenue, a whole-market total or an annual figure. See the TikTok Shop statistics page for the cohort method and limitations.
Check whether TikTok Shop Affiliate is available in your market and whether your account meets the current local eligibility rules. In the current US app flow, open TikTok Studio, choose Monetization, select TikTok Shop for Creator and tap Join now. Other markets may show a different route or requirements.
There is no single worldwide threshold. The current US policy requires at least 1,000 followers for a self-applying Affiliate Creator. Approved Affiliate Creators below 5,000 followers enter the pilot for at least 30 days. Official and Marketing Creators can bind to a shop without a follower minimum, but their marketplace access differs. Other markets publish different rules.
For standard US commission offers, Commission = (Revenue - Refunds) x Commission rate. Open rates apply by product or product group. A Target rate can override Open for the same creator and product, and a Target offer may also include a flat fee. The amount shown after checkout remains estimated until the order, refunds and settlement are final.
Open Collaboration makes selected or all products visible to a broad creator pool. Target Collaboration invites selected creators for selected products, and its rate overrides Open for the same creator and product. Shop Collaboration applies one universal rate across a qualified shop's eligible affiliate products. Flat fee is a Target option, not a fourth plan.
Start with creators who have relevant product or category history. Compare recent estimated GMV and units in the same market, currency and period, then review Video versus LIVE performance, audience age and gender, engagement quality and competing offers. Click Analytic supports this research, but TikTok Shop remains the source for invitations, orders, commission and sales attribution.
TikTok's current US onboarding guide says verification usually takes a few minutes. Some identity checks can take up to 24 hours. Check the TikTok or Creator Center inbox for status. Approval does not mean full product access. Affiliate Creators below 5,000 followers enter the pilot for at least 30 days. Full graduation requires both 5,000 followers and 30 days, although TikTok may lift some limits earlier when its performance conditions are met. Other markets differ.
First compare the account with the current eligibility rules. In the US, an Affiliate Creator must be at least 18, based in the United States, have at least 1,000 followers, meet account and policy requirements, and pass age and identity checks. If identity verification fails, use Resubmit Now or Appeal on the rejection screen. If the account meets every listed requirement but is still not approved, TikTok says to open a support ticket. Approval does not guarantee access to every product category.
There is no fixed rate or reliable public average. The relevant terms are the active offer for that creator, product and collaboration in Affiliate Center. A Target rate overrides an Open rate for the same creator and product, and a Target offer may include a separate flat fee. Standard commission is based on revenue after refunds made before payout. An external GMV estimate is not creator income.
