How to Set Up a Social Listening: Step by Step

Social Listening in Klick-Analytik is built around Monitors.

What are monitors in Social Listening? It’s campaigns you set up once, and that automatically scan Instagram or TikTok for brand mentions matching your criteria.

Klicken Sie auf Listen in the left sidebar, then hit + New Monitor.
Give it a name, for example, “Brand Monitor April 2026”.

Choose your platform

Select Instagram oder TikTok.

You can also run both at the same time, each platform is scanned independently.

Define what to track

Add up to 2 of each:

Keywords that appear in captions

⚠️ Wichtig: the total number of posts selected is divided equally across all your tracking parameters. For example, if you add 2 mentions and 2 keywords and select 100 posts, each parameter gets 25 posts scanned (100 ÷ 4). Choose your parameters carefully to make the most of your scan.

Choose how many posts to scan

Select from 50, 100, 250, 500 oder 1,000 recent posts.

The tool always scans the most recent posts matching your terms first.

Launch, results in minutes

Klicken Sie auf Create Monitor.

Within minutes, your monitor auto-populates with creators, content, and full performance metrics. No manual work required. You should see the status of your monitor change from “Scanning” to “Completed” within a few minutes.

FAQ — Social Listening & Brand Mentions

 

What is social listening?

Social listening is the process of monitoring social media for mentions of your brand, keywords, or hashtags, including posts where you weren’t directly tagged. It gives you a complete picture of all the organic content being created about your brand.

 

What’s the difference between a brand mention and a tag?

A tag uses your @handle directly. A brand mention also includes your brand name appearing as a keyword in a caption, or a branded hashtag, without using the @handle. Social listening captures all three, giving you a much more complete picture than Instagram notifications alone.

 

Which platforms does Click Analytic’s social listening support?

Currently Instagram and TikTok. You can run monitors on either platform or both at the same time.

 

How far back can I track brand mentions?

You can scan 50, 100, 250, 500, or 1,000 of the most recent posts matching your tracking terms. The tool always starts from the most recent posts and works backwards.

 

What is Earned Media Value (EMV) and how is it calculated?

EMV is the estimated dollar value of your organic creator content. For Instagram, it’s calculated as (Estimated Impressions ÷ 1,000) × Instagram CPM. For TikTok, it uses total views × TikTok CPM. It tells you what you would have paid to achieve the same reach through paid advertising.

 

Can I use social listening to monitor competitors?

Yes. Create a separate monitor using a competitor’s brand handle or name as the tracking parameter. You’ll get the full breakdown, creators, content, views, and EMV, for any brand on Instagram or TikTok.

 

How is social listening different from campaign tracking?

Campaign tracking monitors creators you’re actively working with in a paid campaign. Social listening casts a wider net, it discovers all organic content mentioning your brand, including from creators you’ve never contacted. Both tools are available inside Click Analytic.
